Chad Ummel
Bio:
Chad Ummel is a graduate student in physics at Rutgers University. He was an undergraduate at UC Berkeley majoring in physics with a minor in nuclear engineering. He began working with Dr. Bethany Goldblum and Dr. Lee Bernstein in the fall of 2014. His research involved investigating laser-produced nuclear-plasma interactions. In the past, he held an internship with Sandia National Laboratories characterizing plasma divertor detachment at the DIII-D National Fusion Energy Facility at General Atomics in San Diego. Outside of academics, Chad enjoys playing the tenor saxophone with the University of California Marching Band. He is a native of Carlsbad, California.
