Pierce Thompson

Pierce Thompson is a graduate student in the Nuclear Engineering department at UC Berkeley. He graduated with honors from Gonzaga University in 2024, with a BS in Mechanical Engineering and a minor in Physics. His research currently revolves around the characterization of the CLYC scintillator for neutron and gamma-ray spectroscopy, with applications in a wide range of fields from nonproliferation support to astrophysics. Pierce is also interested in how nuclear science and public policy intersect. He enjoys skiing, running, playing piano and bass guitar, and going down rabbit holes about coffee, music, and design.
