“Before You Go” – Travel Guide and Logistics
Dear Colleague,
Nuclear Data is at the core of many applications that provide benefit to society ranging from energy production to national security to medical isotope production to improving the economic competitiveness of our nation. The recent review of the US nuclear data program (USNDP) charged it to “devise effective and transparent mechanisms to solicit input and feedback from all stakeholders on nuclear data needs and priorities.”
To this end the USNDP together with the Nuclear Science and Security Consortium (NSSC) is organizing a targeted 3-day workshop titled Nuclear Data Needs and Capabilities for Applications (NDNCA). The purpose of the workshop is to prioritize the nuclear data needs of the applications community including:
- National Security Data Needs
- Nuclear Energy
- Isotope Production
- Other Applications
The workshop will lead to the production of a whitepaper that will be used by the DOE Office of Science/Nuclear Physics office to help inform priorities for possible funding of future targeted experimental efforts. While the needs of all of these topic areas will be presented, special emphasis will be put on crosscutting nuclear data needs that impact multiple applications areas.
While the workshop will not have a registration fee, we are asking participants to register online.
Please feel free to contact me, or any of the organizing committee members if you have any questions.
Sincerely,
The NDNCA organizing committee:
Lee Bernstein (chair), Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, University of California, Berkeley
M. Shamsuzzoha Basunia, Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory
